Our Platinum Moment

OK .. trying NOT to dwell on the Olympics, although they are INFINITELY way more exciting than my non-existent sex life!

But I just could not pass this up.

THIS is what the games are really all about ...
THIS is worth way more than any medal ...
THIS is what makes me so very proud to be a Canadian.
And actually a big shout out has to go out to the Russian as well, for having the guts to keep going!!!

And this is the blurb they had on facebook:

How's this for Olympic spirit?

Russian cross-country skier Anton Gafarov crashed early in his run, breaking his left ski. He continued his race with the broken ski, before Canadian ski coach Justin Wadsworth gave Gafarov his ski, allowing the Russian to finish the race.http://thesco.re/1kyFJNP

This is what the Olympics are all about, folks.

That's all I got .. you may all continue on with your sexy hot lives whilst I watch the rest of
the games!

:P

  1. Was that the one where he fell and injured himself? I saw one, and think it was this one, yet out didn't show that it was a ski issue. It should he fell, and then that he was finishing it. I love knowing what happened.

  2. I have been pvr'ing the games (it's so easier to just pick & choose what to watch that way) & I saw what happend. The race was nearing the end (it was like 5000meter or something) and a group was coming around a corner. Whatever happened to him to make him go down happened off camera, you just saw him skidding along the snow into view. They didn't stay keep the cameras on him "His out of the race" and resumed following the leaders. As the leaders neared the finish line, the camera cut away to this lone figure literally shuffling along. It was the Russian, he was back up & determined to finish the race. The whole front half of his left ski was split and kinda just flopping uselessly in the snow but he kept going. Then the cameras went back to the finish of the race (some guy won - yay) & then went back to the Russian who by now was climbing a hill ... going straight up (which is extremely hard to do), I am surprised he didn't keep sliding backwards! Poor guy though, at this point I could ski faster than him. But once he reached the top of the hill ...he had to come down the other side. He didn't even pause. And as soon as he gained a little speed the broken part of his ski slid out and he went tumbling down the rest of the hill. The commentator say "Oh he's out of the race, at this point he should just lose the skis and walk" and that's when the Canadian coach came running down the side of the hill with his ski & helped the Russian to his feet, & switched the skis out. So the Russian got to finish the race . in front of the crowds, with his head held high & arm raised in victory. .... and that's what happened. ;)

    1. I always use to love watching the opening & closing ceremonies .. and the figure skating but that's about it. I have the pvr set to record all the action though (the time difference is huge too) .. so I have been able to watch & learn. this is probably the most I have ever watched. I am liking them too (and really I HATE sports!)
      (((hugs)))

  4. I had no clue this happened! Wish I had more tv time. For me it is Dispicable Me, Tinker Bell, and Toy Story... which is all good until you realize you can recite the whole movie.
