Oh-- you totally can do it! I haven't been to one in particular-- but I've found that when I attend new things with a really specific purpose everyone is super-friendly and really just about why you're there and being supportive. Sounds like a good thing. :) You can do it, Duffy Moon!
I haven't quite decided what to do with FL and my blogger friends.
See, I've been on FL since the Fall of 2008. Been using it regularly since Jan 2010. That's much longer than I've been here in blogland. I have people who know the every day "me" and there are very real pictures of me in various states on there.
Except for Sir, they don't know about my blog. I don't really want them knowing, heh.
I haven't really decided anything yet, but if I start adding blogger friends, you'll be the first. :)

Actually, I'd suggest going to several munches before going to a play party. Especially if you don't know them. It's nice that they offered, but no that's not something I would encourage.
I'm still not always comfy at play parties. It depends on who is there and the people hosting them. I always feel better when Sir is there, obviously. But there are a few couples who I trust to keep me safe, if He's not around. Those were established over time. So no, I would never recommend to anyone to go rushing out to a private play party or even the bigger public ones.
Simply the reality is: There are predators out there. And not knowing anyone makes you far more vulnerable to that.
I am glad that you are trying to branch out and step outside of your comfort zone. :)
